The North West MEC for Community Safety and Transport Management, Dr Mpho Motlhabane and departmental management will today embark on a visit to the strive-torn Bloemhof township. The area has recently experienced incidences of gang-related crimes, civil unrest, rampant violence, act of vengeance and lawlessness. Even SAPS officials houses were attacked. SAPS issued a warning to plead with law abiding residents and urge them to condemn and ignore such illegal acts as well as to work together with the police to ensure that those who are behind this, are isolated, exposed and brought to book. It is also important that social media platforms are used responsibly by all, without exception. "Comments and posts in such platforms must not be made to exaggerate the situation, fuel conflicts or cause panic and tension amongst community members. But these fast platforms must encourage peace, stability and cooperation. The police will not hesitate to take action against anyone who is involved in acts of criminality. Those who have evidence against perpetrators must come forward too. The government interventions is going to be heightened as we have also noted the social media reports about illegal protest actions including possible blockading of the N12 road that planned for Bloemhof".
